Development of High Strength Steel Plate

The rapid development of the automotive industry has played an important role in the national economy and social development. However, due to issues such as energy shortages and environmental pollution, the contradictions in the development of the industry are becoming increasingly prominent. Looking ahead, the development of this industry can only be sustainable if it is established in the context of nature, ecology, energy conservation, and safety.
In this context, the lightweight of automobiles and the application of high-strength steel have become important development directions. However, with the improvement of the strength of high-strength steel plates, traditional cold stamping processes are prone to cracking during the forming process, which cannot meet the processing requirements of high-strength steel plates. In this situation, the hot stamping forming technology of ultra-high strength steel plates is gradually being studied internationally - a new process that integrates forming, heat transfer, and tissue transformation. It mainly utilizes the characteristics of increased plasticity and reduced yield strength of the sheet metal in the high-temperature austenite state, and is formed through molds. However, hot forming requires in-depth research on process conditions, metal phase transformation, and CAE analysis technology, but this technology is monopolized by foreign manufacturers and the development in China is slow.
According to survey statistics, the application of high-strength steel in some automotive brands is constantly expanding, and the application of high-strength steel in body frames of some models has reached 90%. According to a study by the Energy Department of the American Institute of Steel, even if high-strength steel is reduced by some values, its stretching is still much more difficult than traditional cold plates. The ductility of high-strength steel is only half that of ordinary steel.
